A greener world, one seed at a time
Ate Teofila, a mother of five with a passion for gardening, was the initiator of this initiative. Water and Life awarded her an urban composting diploma to encourage her to continue her work, which is a good entry point for raising community awareness about waste management.
She created her small vegetable garden on the bank of a pond in front of her house in Pugad Ibon near Manila. With the support of Water and Life, she now leads a group of sixteen gardeners. By providing training and gardening equipment, the association is increasing the capacity to fight food insecurity and the recovery of organic waste fits perfectly with Water and Life’s mission on waste management and environmental awareness in the community.
