CEBU

Cebu City is the regional, financial and administrative capital of the Central Visayas Region. With a population of 922,000, it is the fifth-most populated city in the Philippines, and is considered the second-biggest growth area in the Philippines after Manila. It had the fastest-growing economy in the Philippines in the 1980s, which led to a population growth population and a city expansion. Cebu has stretches along the coast due to a mountainous topography and high vulnerability risk that restricts viable land allocation for urban expansion and became the Metropolitan Area of Cebu (Metro Cebu).

The population increased from 1.5 million inhabitants in 1990 to 2.9 million people in 2017. By 2030, Metro Cebu’s population is expected to reach 3.8 million people. For people living in underprivileged areas of Cebu, the cost of water was prohibitive, since it represented more than 25% of the family budget before our intervention.

Eau et Vie is working in Cebu since 2014, and is now operating in Inayawan, San Roque, and Tangke.
